Construction Update 8.31.12

Well, things have finally gotten back on track, after a couple of weeks of inactivity! Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on the ground in the parking lot, before they start digging and laying cement for the foundation of the new building, on Monday.

OPEN HOUSE 8.29.12

Hi Everyone!

We had another WONDERFUL Open House last night, where hundreds of parents came to school to learn about curriculum, classroom procedures, school rules, and the construction process. We also were lucky enough to have a variety of community members in attendance to pass out information about resources and support available locally to families. It was a great night!

Also, you may have noticed that there haven't been any construction updates as of late; as construction gets back on track, I will begin to post videos again, so hang in there! It's going to get loud and messy here at Whittier soon enough!

PBIS Rotations 8.22.12

As the new school year gets underway, students are spending time this morning rotating through stations to refresh their memory and learn about the specific behavior expectations we have here at Whittier. We clearly define the behavioral expectations for students as they are in the hallways, are outside, in the gym, in the library, on the bus, in the bathrooms and in the classroom.

Also, please note: as we figure out how things are going to work with the construction this year, we may have to make changes to certain things as we progress. One change that we are making is that we are asking all parents and visitors to now enter through the SOUTHWEST doors of the old building, on the Lewis Avenue side, closest to the new office. This will help with traffic flow and safety. Thanks for your flexibility!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! 8.20.12

We had a WONDERFUL first day of school at Whittier today! Lots of smiling faces, happy to be back in school! The halls are alive and well with the sounds of our amazing students, who learned about the new construction, classroom and school rules, and began their journey of learning and achievement with their teachers! Welcome back, everyone!

Construction Update 8.17.12

Hey Everyone -

Well, we are gearing up for the start of school on Monday! It will be so great to have the hallways and classrooms filled with Whittier students once again! The building will come to life with their smiles and laughter and energy, and we can't wait!

A couple quick updates, one on the office, and one on the south end of the mobile unit, where some new doors are being installed......enjoy!

 

  

"Meet and Greet" Night 8.16.12

Hi Everyone -

No videos of the construction today, I'll get back to that tomorrow.....wanted to let you know that we had our annual "Meet and Greet" night here at Whittier, where parents and students came to meet their teachers and drop off school supplies for the year. We were so glad that so many families participated, and we are ALL looking forward to a GREAT year at Whittier! Go Wolves!

Construction Update 8.14.12

Hi Everyone!

School is fast approaching and things continue to take shape here at school.....the temporary fencing is starting to go up, along with a new sidewalk and stairs leading up to the doors by Mrs. Wadas' room.

Also, the office is JUST about done, and we are ready to move in today! Very exciting stuff.....as we hustle to be ready to greet our students on Monday, August 20th!

  

Construction Update 8.09.12

Main Office Update 8.07.12

Here is a quick update of the work being done in the NEW main office. Walls are up, paint is being applied, and soon, we will start moving from the old office to the new one.

Hey everyone -

Just a quick update; not much being done here today, but I wanted to show you some more progress being made both out back and in the front of the school. I will try to get into the new office tomorrow to show you how that's going, as well.
